Sheffield Socialist Alternative members cannot be intimated by the far right.
By Sam Morecroft
Despite the recent violent far right attack on our stall, we were back out again campaigning on Saturday, determined to show we would not be pushed off the streets.
We were joined by other local left-wing campaigners and anti-fascists in an incredible show of solidarity. Members of a range of trade unions and groups, including Unite, PCS, Sheffield Communities Against Racism & Fascism along with other left-wing groups all came out to stand with us, following the slogan that an injury to one is an injury to all.
We were also joined by the member of the public who had been assaulted by the far-right ‘auditor’, who donated to our stall and took a copy of our paper. We were pleased to see that he was out and about and not seriously injured in the altercation.
Despite the threats, the stall was a great success, where we sold numerous copies of our paper as well as several issues of the International Marxism – the political journal of International Socialist Alternative.
