World capitalism is in an ongoing crisis, stemming from the need of the main powers to dismantle the institutions and relations that ruled their system over the past many decades. The ruling classes across the world are turning to militarism, nationalism, racism, misogyny, and transphobia to assert their dominance.
Political crisis continues, with far-right forces marching forward in the dominant economic powers in Europe and the US. In their march to save their own system from itself, they are united in taking back basic democratic rights won by working people over a long period of time.
War and military aggression is now gripping every corner of the world. From the never-ending and ever-expanding wars in the Middle East, to US aggression in Latin America, and the continued bloodbath in Ukraine, Sudan, Myanmar, and many others, hundreds of thousands of people have been killed over the past year. The strongest powers are all expanding their military budgets on the expanse of basic needs for working people at home and globally.
The imperialist offensive in Iran has caused an energy shock and break of supply-chains, paralysing entire economies and causing historic suffering to working people.
Almost $3 trillion was spent on the military globally in 2025. The same amount could fund almost the entire transition to global clean‑energy transition, cover universal healthcare for a decade, clean water for 20 years, or eliminate world hunger for 60 years. For anyone who doubted, the ruling classes the world over are telling us exactly where their priorities lay.
Never before has there been more of a need for mass resistance to capitalism and a fundamental socialist change across the world.
These are the conditions under which members of International Socialist Alternative worldwide will be meeting in Kiel, Germany, this July. As part of this event, we are launching an international finance appeal to help strengthen the forces fighting for a socialist change.

ISA in action!
Opportunities to build the Marxist forces around the world are opening up. ISA has launched the anti-militarism campaign with a speaking tour.
In Germany, we are playing a role in different cities organising students against the reintroduction of conscription and emphasising the importance of this struggle within Die Linke. In Sweden, our organisation, the initiator of the Palestine Network in Norrbotten, plays a key role in the ‘September Rebellion’ movement against the right-wing government, and are now fighting to re-elect socialists to the Luleå City Council. In Brazil, our members have been part of recent debates on the Latin American left, calling for a new anti-imperialist and anti-war struggle based on the working class. In Nigeria, we have launched a campaign for re-nationalisation of the electricity sector, , advocating for a clear socialist alternative of the working masses to the Tinubu regime, terrorism and imperialist military intervention. In the US, Socialist Alternative played a role in the heart of the struggle against Trump’s ICE in Minneapolis, participated in the mass “No Kings” protests, and led workers on strike on May Day. In Britain, we have been part of the struggle for a socialist and working-class Your Party.
To strengthen the understanding of the history and theory of class struggle, we have relaunched our international journal, ‘International Marxism.’
We need your help to build the International
This appeal is necessary to build and expand the building of a Marxist International organisation worldwide in the countries where we are based, and in new regions of the world where struggle is happening and an organisation is needed!
To do that, we urgently need to increase the number of fulltime organisers, as well as the number of visits comrades make to support the work of all sections. There has never been a time in our history where a strong finance appeal has been more necessary to strengthen the work of our international.
To ensure that our members globally can participate in the July ISA School, especially as jet fuel is making flight unbearably expensive for working people, we are subsidising some travel costs for comrades from Nigeria,, and Brazil. Consider whether you could donate to cover the travel costs (or part of those costs) for a comrade attending the school from halfway across the world – whether that’s €1,000 or €100.

All ISA members make sacrifices in many ways to build the organisation. No matter the amount, every donation will make a difference – a €5 donation from a student can represent just as big a sacrifice as €500 from a working comrade.
